Our Favorite Homeschool Extras

As a newer homeschool mama, I have been filling the shelves for a few months now with some extras to help us throughout the school year. I have thoroughly enjoyed browsing the internet for some of the best finds and most of all, I have loved the ability to support small businesses!

I have noticed that there tends to be some wonderful small business mamas out there in the homeschool world. After you homeschool for so long, I suppose you can combine your talents and skills to create stunning items and resources for other homeschool families. I am so thankful for some of these items below, and the wonderful mamas behind them. We have already used so many of these (well nearly all of them) and I look forward to finding more resources to share with you.

Below you will find beginner readers, Christian resources, math manipulative items and much more. We have enjoyed finding the “My First Little House Books” to start teaching our children about the Ingalls Family and the pioneer era. If you find your little ones are too young for the lengthy chapter books, you may truly enjoy the beautiful picture books.

We love using our essential oils daily in our home - typically to promote focus and soothe bouncing bodies. There are so many wonderful oils to help with focus, calming and positivity. We have a whole section on essential oils to guide you in the top navigation bar.

Below, you will also see some of the books we are using for our morning Bible time and devotionals. You can find these on Amazon. There will be a new post coming soon to share our morning time with you! Some other things that we adore is a good, purposeful coloring book for spare morning time. Since I sometimes have to get the baby down to nap, these books are always out for the children to color in once they are done an assignment, while they wait for school or while I engage with another child. We chose Christian coloring books so we are still making them “purposeful.” In addition to coloring books for free time or morning time, we enjoy the Handwriting Without Tears journal for our younger ones. They have the ability to work on their writing with blank space for their artwork.

Easy memory games, word games or simple and educational board games have been great for us to use while the children wait for school or have their learning break. Sometimes it’s just too hot for us to go outside, so educational games or free play it is! I have enjoyed investing in some good games, blocks and more. Lastly, we have LOVED having some of the resource books from Usborne - the encyclopedias and science set are truly wonderful and have been viewed quite a few times already! Support a small business and support your local Usborne lady.
