My Top 5 Oily Kitchen Hacks

Today I want to share some easy and fun ways to use essential oils in the kitchen. Young Living offers a line of vitality oils that are wonderful for using in things like cooking, teas, smoothies, or even just in water because these oils are safely recommended for ingesting.

Ingesting oils should be done so with caution as oils are very potent and powerful. A little goes a long way! When adding oils to your drinks, 1-2 drops is all that is needed! Below you can find some fun little hacks for using oils in the kitchen!

1. Clean your produce and sweeten it up!

Soak your produce in 2-3 drops of lemon oil or Thieves oil and water for cleansing. But an even better hack is to leave fruits soaking in the lemon water for 5-10 minutes to allow the fruit to absorb the lemon flavor. The longer the produce sits, the more it soaks up that sweet lemon flavor. Lemon strawberries are SO good and for some children, adding that sweet lemon flavor may encourage them to eat blueberries or grapes that they wouldn’t normally eat.

2. Prepare for the day with Peppermint!

I don’t know about you, but the kitchen is where most of our morning is spent each day before school dropoff. It’s the first place kids head to after they rise from bed.

Diffuse Peppermint oil in the mornings for a wake me up blend while everyone is up and getting ready for busy days at school and work. Peppermint is wonderful because of its ability to promote mental alertness and focus. It’s the perfect thing to help jumpstart your day!

Peppermint with Orange or Lemon is a great blend! Peppermint pairs nicely with many things, so give it a try! If there’s no time to diffuse, simply inhale it for a few seconds from the bottle as a quick “wake me up.” You can even add one drop to your tea or coffee for extra digestive support and pick me up.

Ever started cooking a meal and realized you forgot an ingredient? Perhaps you were making salsa and forgot the lime or you were making an Italian dish and ran out of oregano or basil. When having Young Living’s vitality oils on hand, you can totally just add 1-2 drops to your meals! 5. Sparkle with Lemon!

If you haven’t caught onto it yet, lemon oil is truly an amazing oil for the kitchen! Add some to your sink as you clean a dirty sink or stovetop at the end of the day. Lemon oil acts as a natural degreaser and can naturally help steel shine or naturally remove build up on stove tops. My favorite way to clean stove tops and ovens is to sprinkle baking soda and top it off with a few drops of lemon oil and white vinegar. Let the combination react and sud up and then get to scrubbing with a wire brush or good sponge!
